“Living with purpose on purpose”

I want to share about celebrating life and making the most of the life we have all been given.
Ephesians 5:15-16 “be very careful then, how you live; not as unwise, but as wise; making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil”; so we have a choice and it’s a personal choice based on our own freewill, which we know God gave to man at the beginning of time; therefore God will never force us to do anything we don’t want to do; but He does desire us to make right and lasting choices that will not only affect our own lives, but those around us.
Deuteronomy 30:19 “I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses; now choose life ……” First and foremost, you need to ask yourself the question “do I know my purpose?” In other words, “do I know what I was put here on planet earth to do?” If you can’t answer that question, you need to ask the one who knows. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Another verse that we can enquire with regard to our purpose is in Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great things you do not know”.
You can’t live life with a purpose, on purpose, if you don’t know what direction to go in; you could spend the whole of your adult life pursuing the wrong dream and therefore you wouldn’t be walking in your God given destiny. We all have a destiny; we were all put on this planet to fulfil a destiny; it’s important that we find out what that purpose is and then passionately go after it in order to be effective fulfilled and whole.
Psalms 139 is a great chapter revealing how precious we all are to God and how He created us on purpose to fulfil a specific purpose. Verse 13-16 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be”.
And in Jeremiah 1:5 we learn of Jeremiah’s purpose and why God created him “before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born, I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations”. The first part of that verse can also apply to us; however the latter part is what will distinguish us from each other; it’s what will give us our unique edge; “I appointed you as …………..” What has God appointed you to do? What is the purpose He created you for, on purpose?
“On purpose” just refers to something done intentionally or deliberately. When someone knowingly does something to embarrass you; that’s something they do on purpose, it was very intentional and deliberate; they meant to make you feel that way.
Well God meant to make you the way you are! If that’s being a loud individual, a bubbly person, perhaps you’re a bit reserved in nature or attentive to detail. Whatever characteristics you display; God deliberately made you that way because of the purpose and call He has on your life. And as we read before God knew what He was going to make of our lives before we were even born.
The late Myles Munroe was a great motivational speaker and spoke passionately about individuals knowing their purpose and then living in that purpose.
Just after his death in November 2014, I was listening to some of his sermons online and came across a message he shared on the 10 keys to redeeming one’s time; in other words, making the most of our God given opportunities:-
He said these 10 keys were a good way to start off a New Year.
Document a plan;
Establish your priorities;
Pursue your passion only;
Protect your plans and priorities;
Identify what you value;
Make decisions based on destiny;
Inventory your associations;
Review of your investments;
Do not try to please everyone;
Forget the past and pursue and design the future; i.e. get back on track,
Know this, your life is more than just a “status”, i.e. single, divorced, widower, single parent; yes we may have certain desires and expectations; but the reality is today and “living in the now”, because it’s in “living in the now” that you will live out your God given purpose with intent and with deliberation. So live life to the max and enjoy it.
